How to Reach Tawang Region

  • By Air: The nearest airport is Shillong Airport (Umroi), about 30 km from Shillong, with limited flight connectivity. The most convenient option is Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport, Guwahati, approximately 120 km from Shillong, which is well connected to major Indian cities. Taxis and shared cabs are readily available from Guwahati to Shillong and other parts of Meghalaya.
  • By Train: Meghalaya does not have a major railway station. The nearest railway station is Guwahati Railway Station, around 100 km from Shillong, from where taxis and buses are easily available.
  • By Road: Meghalaya is well connected by excellent highways. Private taxis, self-drive vehicles, shared cabs, and state transport buses operate regularly from Guwahati to Shillong, Cherrapunji, Dawki, Mawlynnong, and other tourist destinations.
