Kaziranga – The Land of the One-Horned Rhinoceros

Brief:
Kaziranga National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is one of India’s most celebrated wildlife destinations, located in Assam. Spread across the floodplains of the mighty Brahmaputra River, Kaziranga is renowned as the home of the world’s largest population of the Great Indian One-Horned Rhinoceros. Its unique ecosystem of tall elephant grass, wetlands, and dense forests makes it a biodiversity hotspot and a paradise for nature lovers and wildlife enthusiasts.

Description:
Established in 1905, Kaziranga is a living treasure of Assam, covering over 430 sq. km of protected area. Apart from the iconic rhinos, the park shelters tigers, elephants, swamp deer, wild buffaloes, and a rich variety of birdlife, earning it recognition as both a Tiger Reserve and an Important Bird Area (IBA). The park is divided into four ranges – Kohora, Bagori, Agaratoli, and Burapahar – each offering unique landscapes and wildlife experiences.

A safari through Kaziranga takes you deep into the heart of its wilderness, where you can witness wild animals in their natural habitat, spot rare migratory birds, and feel the thrill of being surrounded by untouched nature. Whether it’s the early morning mist over the grasslands or the golden sunsets reflecting on the wetlands, Kaziranga offers moments that remain etched in memory forever.
